What is Wine Country Speed Dating?

Let's face it, by now you know it takes meeting a number of people before you find someone you click with. But the problem is, how do you meet them in the first place? Sure there are ways--bars, blind dates, dating services, online, etc. But they all have their disadvantages and they take time...lots of it. What fun is it to wait around for someone to talk to you in a bar or when you're out and about? What fun is it to risk rejection over and over again striking up conversations with people you don't even know are single? What if the conversation goes well, what about the awkwardness afterwards with asking for phone numbers? With Wine Country Speed Dating, you meet up to 10 (and sometimes more) single professionals in less than 2 hours. Think of it as a series of "facilitated introductions" just like when you go to a party with a good host. Afterwards, if there's interest (you discreetly circle on your interest sheet who you would like to hear from again), you'll get a “Mailbox” where these event participants can drop their card into. There's no pressure, no rejection, no embarrassment and no games!

Sorry to be cliche but not all speed dating companies are created equal. Wine Country Speed Dating  is the North Bay’s speed dating company for single professionals with events in multiple Cities and Counties. Who Goes To Wine Country Speed Dating Events?

The majority of our participants are busy professionals--people who value their time. The reality is you, like most of our participants, have little trouble building a relationship with someone you know but simply don't have the time to meet people in the first place! Our events solve this dilemma by helping you meet many new people in a short time and in a fun, no pressure way. Also, our participants are people who aren't comfortable with, or just tired of, many of the traditional dating approaches. But the bottom line is that they're people like you--interested in finding someone they're compatible with. And they want to do it in a safe, comfortable, efficient and dignified manner. Wine Country Speed Dating Events are open to all single professionals although on occasion we have special events for people desiring to meet those sharing a similar affinity, interest or background.  

Will I meet people of all ages?

No, all of our events are age compatible. Most Wine Country Speed Dating sessions are designed with a 10 year or less age range which can change from month to month helping to ensure repeat Speed Daters have an opportunity to meet new people each time. For example, one month we may have 22-32, 43-53 and the next we might have 18-25, 26-36 and 45-55. We've found that most people want to meet others that are close to their age. For those who don't, read the next question and answer. We also have special events for people who desire to meet significantly older or younger people.  

I am not within the recommended age/interest group. Can I attend anyway?

We want all participants to be comfortable with the interest and age group of attendees they are "dating." Please choose a Wine Country Speed Dating party that is within the recommended interest group and age range that you wish to date and in which you personally fit.    

What do you mean by "single professionals"?

Our speed dating customers tell us they are looking for other singles who are in a trade or business that requires intellect, ethics, and strong character. This could mean highly educated individuals like doctors or lawyers or it could be subjective to mean people who conduct themselves in a professional manner in their lives and are skilled in their careers, independent of education. Wine Country Speed Dating does not discriminate and welcomes all those from various trades and professions.  

How many people can I expect to meet in a night?

Typically 10 to 12 (and sometimes as many at 16). It's not too few and not too many. Instead of spending 15+ hours in 10 blind dates, you can have 10 Speed Dates in only an hour or so! Our minimum participant threshold is 6 men and 6 women for a session but nearly always have 10 to 12. Any more than 16 and it's simply too tiring and too hard to remember everyone!  

What if there are only a few people there?

This shouldn't happen. We know how many people are registered before event day. Fortunately, our events are very popular and nearly always sell out. Our Attendance Guarantee: If for whatever reason we had 5 or fewer pairings or 5 or fewer of one gender (for example several people no-show or cancel at the last minute due to unexpected bad weather or last minute work related issues) we will make it up by offering an EVENT CREDIT to a future event. We know how critical attendance is to the success of speed dating events and your experience at our events. That's why, unlike our competitors, we have an attendance guarantee. By having minimum turnout standards, you're guaranteed to meet enough people to give you a good chance of getting one or more participants wanting to hear from you again. We have an exceptional record! Over 99% of our events are held as scheduled so us rescheduling or cancelling an event is one issue you won't have to worry about with us!  

How long does a session take?

Due to the fact that most events are sold out, we usually have 2 sessions, one before the other. Each session will have a specific age range and/or interest group. Typically, the first session will begin around 6:20 PM and the second session begins around 8:30 PM. Each session takes about an hour and a half.    

How much time do I have to talk to someone?

Typically 6 minutes per person but depending upon attendance and other things you may have 5 minutes or as high as 10 minutes. We'll let you know how much time you have before we start the event.    

6 minutes doesn't seem like a lot of time; is it enough?

Remember, you're not on a date, you're on a Speed Date! Wine Country Speed Dating is a great way to see if you'd be interested in a full date or just more conversation later. Sometimes 6 minutes is way too long, if you know what we mean. But in 6 minutes most people can tell if there's physical chemistry, if they like the way someone speaks, if the person is mature and intelligent, and if they want to know more. At which point they'd select YES on their Interest Sheet that they would like to hear from that person again!  

What should I talk about?

You'll see that once you start the event everything just flows. But don't worry, we'll give you some Flirting Tips to help you out. One tip, think about what you'd want to know before going on a date with the person. Some people ask harmless easy questions like "What hobbies do you have" or "What area of town do you live in" and others ask tough questions like "When is the last time you lied to someone". The possibilities are endless but relax and try not to be too serious, just have fun. Another tip, try to avoid the more mundane questions like "what do you do" and "where are you from" as this can be repetitive. Try to stand out and differentiate yourself from the others. And if you are sitting across from someone you're not attracted to, please remember that they still have a story to tell.  

I've attended before, how do you make sure I don't meet the same people?

Good question and a valid concern especially since many people return to participate in our events. After all, it is as they say a "numbers game" and Wine Country Speed Dating helps even the odds so to speak.  

How should I dress for the event?

It's your call. Shorts and flip-flops might not project the best image however! Since we cater to Professionals, please dress accordingly. Many people come directly from work so you'll see business casual or even a suit or two. If it's a later event session people might be dressed down a bit but you probably won't see any torn blue jeans. You know what to do, be comfortable, look good, and smile!  

How will my matches contact me?

When you arrive you get your Interest Sheet, where you will select, throughout the evening, who you would like to hear from again. After the event, “interest cards” will be dropped to each participant’s “mailbox”. You can choose when to communicate and what personal information you would like to exchange!  

What if I don't get any matches?

It can happen but over two-thirds of our Participants get at least one person who would like to hear from them again (some get quite a few!) and some events have even had 100% of the participants get match results! Our advice is if you're not completely sure, just say Yes because you never know…give them another chance and they may surprise you. If asked, your friendly Event Coordinator will be happy to give you some suggestions on how to improve your match rate, just ask.      

Who contacts who?

We encourage both parties to contact each other. You leave what contact information you want to the other party. If there is a interest they will then contact you via the given contact information.      

What if I contact one of my matches and they don't reply?

Why not try one more time? Sometimes people go on vacation or don't check their email every day so give it a few days. We encourage everyone to please be courteous and reply to event participants even if you change your mind and don't want to hear from them again.  

How much does a Wine Country Speed Dating event cost?

Each event is priced differently but some events offer an additional discount when you register early. Specific interest events may charge more. The investment amount is clearly shown when you register and varies slightly from city to city.  If you pay by credit card, you will see the amount and Wine Country Speed Dating on your credit card statement.  

I don't have a credit card, can I still attend?

Certainly, as a business professional, you should have at least one credit card. Lets face it, in this day and age if you have a bank account with a debit card, you have a credit card. And if still no credit card then call your momma and ask to borrow hers.

How many events can I attend?

As many as you want, but we lose customers all the time because they find a lasting match through one of our events! Don’t worry we will not hold it against you.

I wanted to register but it says the event is full, what do I do?

We're sorry! To ensure the best possible experience, each event has a maximum capacity and our system is programmed with this information. When the event fills up, the system does not permit any additional registrations for that event. However, we often add people from that event's Waiting List so we encourage you to sign up for that. The link will be shown only when the session you're interested in is full.  

Can I sign up with a friend?

Naturally, in fact we encourage it. Sign up with two or three! However, each person needs to register separately.  

What If I Don't See Any Scheduled Events In My City/Area?

An event may be in the works but isn't listed on the Web site yet. Also, we're rapidly expanding into cities everywhere and we might be there soon. We recommend first and foremost to Join Our Mailing List so you'll be the first to know about a newly scheduled event. Also, we'd appreciate it if you would recommend your area.
